FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
What are your fin type options?
We use three different types of fins (tailfin, pectoral, pelvic). Please see the tab âFin Typesâ at the top of the website to see photo references and detailed descriptions of each type.
Can I request a specific fin color?
Absolutely! Every piece is made from real lionfish fins, meaning no two are ever alike. The natural patterns, colors, and translucency varyâmaking your jewelry completely one-of-a-kind.
If you have a color preference, let us know by including a note in the Cart "Special Instructions" and weâll do our best to match it.
Is your jewelry nickel-free?
Yes! All of our jewelry is 100% nickel-free, making it safe for those with metal sensitivities or nickel allergies. Our pieces are also hypoallergenic and tarnish-free, so you can wear them every day without irritation.
What are your shipping times?
Please allow 3â5 business days for order processing. Orders are shipped via USPS Priority Mail. Because we ship from an island, delivery may take an additional 1â2 business days beyond standard transit times.
For International shipping, shipping time depends on the method of shipping the customer chooses at checkout.
What is your refund policy?
We accept returns on eligible items within 30 days of delivery. Items must be unworn, unused, and in original packaging (including any included pouch/box). Once received and inspected, refunds are issued to the original payment method. Original shipping fees are non-refundable.
In the unlikely event that the item(s) you received are damaged, contact us within 48 hours of delivery with photos so we can make it right.
Are lionfish venomous or poisonous?
Great question â and there's an easy way to remember the difference! If you bite it and you die, it's poisonous. If it bites you and you die, it's venomous. Lionfish are venomous, not poisonous. They won't bite you, and touching a spine won't kill you â but it will hurt! Lionfish possess 18 sharp venomous spines. Once those are removed, the meat is completely safe to eat and delicious.
Can you eat lionfish?
Yes â and they are absolutely delicious! Lionfish have a mild, flaky white meat that tastes similar to snapper, and top chefs around the world are taking notice.
Celebrity chef JosĂ© AndrĂ©s featured whole fried lionfish at his restaurant Fish at The Cove at Atlantis in the Bahamas, calling it his most exciting menu item. James Beard Award-winning Chef Michael Schwartz serves whole roasted lionfish at Fi'lia at Baha Mar in Nassau. And The Pink Beach Club at The Loren Hotel in Bermuda â recently highlighted in Vogue Travel â serves a standout lionfish tartare with avocado, pineapple salsa, and plantain chips, a dish that has become a guest favorite.
By choosing to eat lionfish, you're participating in the solution. Every lionfish removed from the reef protects dozens of native fish species. If you ever see it on a menu, we highly encourage you to try it â you won't be disappointed!
How does my purchase help with ocean reef conservation?
Every piece of jewelry you purchase directly supports my mission to protect Caribbean coral reefs â and I am so grateful for it! Here's how it works: I personally hunt and remove lionfish from the waters around St. Croix, US Virgin Islands. Each lionfish I remove saves approximately 2,100 reef fish that would otherwise fall prey to this voracious invasive predator.
By purchasing my jewelry, you're funding that work â making it possible for me to keep diving, keep hunting, and keep protecting the reef. In 2025 alone, I removed 1,055 lionfish, saving an estimated 2.2 million reef fish.
Nothing goes to waste either. My husband and I eat the meat (it's delicious, by the way!), and I handcraft the stunning fins into the one-of-a-kind jewelry you're wearing. Your purchase isn't just beautiful â it's making a real, measurable difference in the health of our oceans. Thank you so much for being part of this journey with me!
